Big Surprise was ?
At the May meeting there was a big surprise, some of the members guessed it. The past president Lyle Turner made a surprise visit to the SMUG meeting. Lyle and I had been planning this for a couple of weeks. We started it off as a iChat/video chat and had a plan to cut away with enough time for him to drive over and drop in on the meeting in person. It was a nice surprise to some of the members who attended the meeting. THANKS Lyle for coming.
To all the members who did not attend the May meeting, you missed out on a full meeting. Talked about Apple TV Airport Extreme, solved a couple of issues that members were having. presented some new rumors on what Apple might be up to. Plus we have a new member who will be joining the group. I hope all the members are helping in recruiting new members, so that our group will continue its long and fine history.
I (the president) will mostly likely not be attending the June meeting do to my work schedule, but Bob Devoe will be providing another awesome presentation for the group. I hope to also be able to bring all of you up to date on the Window display and posters for advertising our group. The officers are also moving on talks with IU to place us on their website in a manner that I hope will help establish us on the IU campus. The group will be using the HT more as well in the future. Also the plans have already be started for a some kind of recording or broadcast to help advertise our meetings and activities. Look for the SMUG name to start appearing all over Bloomington.. and the INTERNET.

Important Change:
A coomunication change is iin the works.. The group will now be using Google Groups as its emailing/list server and archived mail board. The reason for this change is to speed up the process and to get rid of the extra advertising that Yahoo Groups put into the emails. Also to enable files to be attached and send as well. Yahoo Groups was a little touchy on attachements for some members.
The Google Groups list serv as speed up the delivery of email by aprox. 10 secs and there is little or no advertising. Mostly no advertising, whcih is what I was looking for, along with better management controls and Google Groups offered it.
So please click on your invite email that I sent out to join the group. The reason why I am asking you to rejoin via a invite email is that some of the folks on the Yahoo list are not active and I would like to clean up the list, and this is the only fair way to do it.
Thanks for all of your patience while this change is in progress. the Yahoo Groups will no longer be used end of March 2007.
